NY Times Highlights NoMad
Recently, the NY Times published an extensive piece on the NoMad District called “Just the Place to Wander.” It is so great to see our wonderful neighborhood and some of NoMad’s interesting and diverse history represented in the pages of The Grey Lady. While it is thrilling to see the neighborhood getting so much recognition, NoMad has even more to offer than the article indicates!
The piece makes a point to mention that NoMad has become a “fashionable tourist haven.” This is due to the amazing and diverse group of hotels we have in the neighborhood. These include the Gansevoort Park, The Gerwshin, Hotel Giraffe, King and Grove, Ace Hotel and The NoMad Hotel. From rooftop views to the hippest DJs to fine dining; these hotels have it all.
Something that the article failed emphasize is how NoMad has arguably the best array of culinary establishments in the city. From Eleven Madison Park and The NoMad to Les Halles, Asellina and Ilili; the area has something for every mood. In fact, Business Insider devoted a piece to highlight how the neighborhood has become a “dinner destination.” Foodies and locals flock to NoMad restaurants to dine on the menus devised by star chefs like Daniel Humm, April Bloomfield and now Dani Garcia.
NoMad also has some of the best sandwich shops in the city. Num Pang, No. 7 Subs and Melt Shop all have devoted followings and locations in the neighborhood! Also, many of our restaurants such as Resto, Shake Shack and The Breslin are famous for their burgers. If you’re a chicken person, Hill Country Chicken has got you covered.
Looking for something affordable yet upscale? NoMad also has great markets, with Eataly and the soon-to-open Fairway. The neighborhood also features incredible coffee at Birch Coffee and Stumptown.
NoMad has also become one of the liveliest Jazz neighborhoods in NYC. The Jazz Gallery, Jazz Standard and Flatiron Room always have a great group or combo to watch.
It is great to see the attention that NoMad is getting from the NY Times and hopefully this will lead to people discovering even more of the fantastic places to go and eat in neighborhood.
