Madison Square Park Tree Lighting Festivities 2014
Madison Square Park is gearing up for the holiday season! The Madison Square Park Conservancy will throw its annual holiday celebration on Tuesday, December 9th, complete with the tree lighting. Madison Square Park had the first public Christmas tree and has lit a tree with celebrations every year since 1912, 102 years ago.
Celebrate this tradition with an afternoon of free family-friendly activities. The event features a gardening workshop with Gardener Steph, a Reading Rangers story time in partnership with Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, and performances by Audra Rox and the Broadway cast of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
The event will include free apple bites and apple cider from Hill Country Chicken, pappa pomodoro (tomato soup) from SD26 and hot apricot ginger lemonade and strawberry basil lemonade from Frittering Away.
The event kicks off at 3:30 p.m. and culminates with the tree lighting ceremony at 5:00 p.m. Stop by Madison Square Park and check out the fun!
