DJ Ripley At Ace Hotel Tonight

DJ Ripley continues her Monday night series tonight at the Ace Hotel in NoMad, NY

Stop by the NoMad District’s Ace Hotel tonight to see DJ Ripley continue her Monday night series.

DJ Ripley, known for her eclectic mix of dance, dubstep and word music, has made a big name for herself since she began performing in 1995. Ripley started her career as a member of the Boston-based art collective Toneburst, before co-founding San Francisco’s Surya Dub. She was voted “Best Dance DJ 2009” in the San Francisco Bay Guardian Readers’ Poll. Most recently, she was nominated for recognition by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art. She now lives in Brooklyn and is a member of the collective Dutty Artz.

Ripley’s music exemplifies the way immigrants mix the sounds of their native lands with the music of their new communities. This has lead Ripley to explore the fusion of club and dance with a variety of genres: cumbia, bhangra, baile funk, kuduru and dembow. The result is her own style of dance music that finds its roots in countries worldwide.

The event starts at 8 p.m. in the Ace Hotel Lobby Bar and is free to attend. Swing by NoMad tonight to check it out!
