Weekend In NoMad: Shantell Martin and Women Rock at Amé Amé

Artist Shantell Martin will install her faberge egg at Ace Hotel this weekend in NoMad

Kick off the weekend with Women Rock on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event at Amé Amé will highlight local female designers and business owners. It will feature bags from The Andi Brand, fragrances and perfumes from Soukenber, lingerie from Francis Smiley, a storefront window painting by artist Frankie Padron and an in-store yoga class led by Pop Up Yoga.

If all this wasn’t enough, The New Standard Edition clothing brand will be hosting a model search at the event. The New Standard Edition welcomes all women to come out and pose for pictures, even if just for fun. Amé Amé is located at 17 West 29th Street between Broadway and Fifth Avenue. For more info, call (646) 867-2342.

Close out the weekend at Ace Hotel on Sunday afternoon, when artist Shantell Martin will display her large-scale Fabergé Egg. Martin, whose work has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, the Museum of Modern Art and The Brooklyn Museum, designed the oversized egg for the citywide Fabergé Big Egg Hunt, an event benefiting both the Studio in a School and Elephant Family.

Audiences are encouraged to come at 4 p.m. to witness the installation of the egg. The event will be catered by The Breslin Bar & Dining Room, which will be offering its popular Scotch Egg for $9. The event is free to attend and open to the public. The egg will remain in the Ace Hotel lobby through April 18th.
