Keith Jarrett Celebration at Jazz Standard

Shades-of-Jazz-Keith-Jarrett

Head over to The Jazz Standard this week to catch Shades of Jazz: Keith Jarrett. The Jazz Standard will celebrate the music of legendary pianist Keith Jarrett with an all-star tribute concert featuring arrangements of Jarrett’s compositions.

Keith Jarrett is commonly thought of as one of his generation’s most innovative pianists ever since his solo improvisations at the 1975 Koln Concert brought him international fame. David Shenk of The Atlantic describes Jarrett as “the rare artist who has managed to create something profoundly new… A pianist of nonpareil technique and among the most gifted improvisers in jazz history.”

The quintet presenting Shades of Jazz consists of trumpeter Tim Hagans, alto saxophonist Greg Osby, pianist Dan Tepfer, bassist Ben Allison and drummer Matt Wilson. The quintet’s arrangements will be written by Milan Simich, who has made a name for himself producing artists like Bruce Hornsby, Kenny Burrell and Cindy Blackman.

The group will perform sets at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Tickets cost $25 per person and can be purchased here.
