Early last year, the Sydell Group—owner-operators of the NoMad Hotel at 1170 Broadway at 28th Street—began executing an expansion of the NoMad brand beyond NYC with their first out-of-state offering, the NoMad Los Angeles. This fall, a third location will open in Las Vegas. Now, there are reports that within two years, the NoMad Hotel will expand its reach across the Atlantic with a new location in London.
The new property won’t be the Sydell Group’s first foray across the pond. Last year, the group opened The Ned, a five-star offering connected with the exclusive Soho House Clubs in a restored historic building in the heart of London. No specific location has been announced yet for the new London iteration of the NoMad, but earlier reports suggest the hotel will have approximately 100 rooms.
The original NoMad Hotel is perhaps as renowned for its fine dining as for its luxury lodging; the iconic Eleven Madison Park has been rated the best restaurant in the world. The restaurant’s co-owners, Restaurateur Will Guidara and Executive Chef Daniel Humm, have developed the food concepts for both the Los Angeles and Las Vegas NoMad locations, and it’s widely expected they will have a hand in the dining concepts in London, as well.
Of course, the reigning theory of many is that nothing tops the original. If that holds true, the NoMad neighborhood will always be a signature location for this emerging international brand. Nevertheless, this expansion may, in its own way, bring a small taste of our lovely neighborhood to distant shores.
