Six Romantic Restaurants in NoMad Offering Valentine’s Day Specials
Valentine’s Day is this Thursday, and if you haven’t yet nailed down date plans with your special someone, you’re not out of luck (yet). The NoMad neighborhood is filled with wonderful restaurants, and a number of them are offering special menus designed to tantalize the senses and put you in the mood for romance. To make it easy, we’ve listed six of the neighborhood’s finest below. If any of these tickle your fancy, be sure to make reservations soon as time slots are filling up.
BLACKBARN
Valentine’s Day in a “barn?” Certainly! This upscale rustic restaurant is highly popular any time of year, but for Valentine’s Day, chef John Doherty has created a generous three-course menu packed with no less than 13 aphrodisiacs. (Those dishes are even marked with a heart on the menu for your convenience.) Cost: $85 per person.

Woodpecker by David Burke
Nothing beats the smoky flavor of food cooked in a wood-fired oven, which is why a Valentine’s meal at Woodpecker might just be the thing to rekindle the embers of your relationship. Chef David Burke has prepared a three-course Valentine’s menu of romantic delights, with appetizers like crab salad and Oysters Rockefeller, along with main courses that include lobster ravioli, filet mignon and lavender-glazed duck breast. The pre-fixe menu begins at 7:30 pm. Cost: $75 per person. (Add $35 for a Porterhouse steak for two.)

Tarallucci e Vino NoMad
It is romance served up Italian style at this casual-elegant café known for its local-food sourcing, homemade pasta and original cocktails. For “San Valentino” 2019, the restaurant is offering a special four-course menu with options that include scampi bisque and grilled Spanish octopus for appetizers and Dover sole and “Risotto della Passione” as entrees, followed by a selection of Valentine’s-themed desserts. Cost: $80 per person.

The Wilson
Spacious and trendy, The Wilson invites you and your beloved to dine either indoors or al fresco in its all-season heated outdoor seating area. The Wilson is also one of the area’s more affordable options for Valentine’s dining, with a $49 per person three-course menu that includes choices such as Long Island Oyster Pan Roast for an appetizer and blue crab carbonara as an entrée, plus your choice of dessert. For a small surcharge, take advantage of the make-your-own s’mores station after dinner.

Benno
The newly-opened Benno is already receiving great reviews, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to find out why. Chef Benno, formerly of Per Se, is offering the restaurant’s regular selection of prix fixe menus (three, four or five courses) accented with additional special entrées and dessert selections.
