Rizzoli Opening Party: A Celebration of the New Bookstore in NoMad
Last night a sparkling crowd, including celebrities of New York’s literary world, gathered to welcome the new Rizzoli Bookstore to New York City’s NoMad neighborhood. Rizzoli Bookstore, which will officially open next Monday, July 27th at 10:30 a.m., is located at 1133 Broadway at the intersection of 26th Street.
Among the guests, Diane Von Furstenberg, who published two books last year and mentioned that Rizzoli is publishing her in Italian, toasted Rizzoli, Italy and New York. Gale Brewer, Borough President of Manhattan also welcomed the return of an integral part of New York culture and thanked Rizzoli for its commitment to its retail bookstore and New York book-lovers. There were welcoming remarks by Rizzoli management, including Marco Ausenda, President & CEO of Rizzoli NY and Laura Donnini, CEO, RCS Libri. Mr. Ausenda noted that Rizzoli had carefully considered more than 100 locations in New York, before choosing this location in NoMad.
The speeches were followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting, and then there was a chance for everyone to tour the store and enjoy music, wine and tasty bites from Eataly.
As elegant as its predecessor on 57th Street, the stunning new Rizzoli Bookstore is an exciting mix of traditional and contemporary design, incorporating the finest materials. For those who loved the old bookstore, you’ll feel right at home in the NoMad location. Rizzoli has brought the chandeliers, many of the wooden bookcases and other details from the 57th Street store as well.

Rizzoli’s architect Ike Kligerman Barkley has introduced a new grandeur to the store. There is a marvelous black and white marble floor that leads to huge red doors separating the general selling floor from an area dedicated to special books and a salon for events. These new design features share the spotlight with magnificent Fornasetti-designed wallpaper, featuring elegant sketches of Italy’s most famous structures and fantasy hot air balloons amid clouds on an intense azure blue sky.
Stay tuned, we will be following up with additional details of the event this week and next as Rizzoli opens and becomes part of this vibrant, creative NoMad neighborhood. Welcome Rizzoli!
