Rizzoli and Kew Management today announced the signing of a lease for the new location of Rizzoli’s famed bookstore.  Formerly located on 57th just off Fifth Avenue, Rizzoli will reopen next Spring in a 5,000 square foot retail space at 1133 Broadway, on the corner of Broadway and 26th Street.

Rizzoli established its first store in New York in 1964 at 55th Street and Fifth Avenue and later moved to 31 West 57th Street.  In the 50 years since the first elegant store opened, with its knowledgeable, passionate and multilingual staff, Rizzoli has become a sanctuary for booklovers seeking a comprehensive, thoughtful selection of books on art, architecture, photography, and design.

According to President Marco Ausenda of Rizzoli International Publications, “Our new flagship bookstore will embody the ambience our customers expect from Rizzoli while further enhancing their in-store experience.  A special salon for events, our trademark interior wrapped in an exciting modern envelope, and other new features will make Rizzoli an icon for the future of illustrated bookstores.  After an exhaustive search that included many options in several of New York’s unique neighborhoods, our criteria were fully met only by the 1133 Broadway location.”

There are two key reasons this New York landmark decided on NoMad.  First, the new flagship will be two blocks from the highly successful Eataly market, creating a growing concentration of Italian and International stores along Broadway, including leaders such as Marimekko (Finland), Porcelanosa (Spain), Lego (Denmark), and Maison Kitsune (France).  Second, the location provides access to an affluent resident and tourist base as well as NoMad’s increasing number of creative professionals in the fields of design, architecture, media, and art.

“Kew Management has always recognized the intrinsic structural values in NoMad real estate, and we are thrilled to see the positive developments in the area over the past three years,” said Leslie Spira Lopez, President and CEO of Kew Management Corporation. “We welcome Rizzoli and are proud we were able to bring this stunning addition to the neighborhood.”
