Lunch at Spreads Sandwich Shop
From Num Pang NoMad to the Melt Shop, many amazing sandwich shops have have joined No. 7 Sub in NoMad in the last couple years. After stopping by Spreads Sandwich Shop last week, we can confidently add them to the incredible list of the best.
Spreads smokes their own meats, pickles their own vegetables, bakes their own desserts and even makes their own mayo and almond milk from scratch. The fresh smell of the combined aromas that results is tantalizing.
Spreads, located at 441 Park Avenue near the corner of East 30th Street, has a variety of different options to augment your sandwich. On the way to the register, you pass a large cooler containing salads, yogurts, and drinks. Spreads even makes their own teas in-house, with flavors such as passion fruit, hibiscus, and green tea.
Then, you reach a display of sides and sweets. The roasted cauliflower and baked strawberry buttermilk doughnuts were two items that really caught our eye.
After passing the drinks, sides, and sweets, you finally reach the register where the hardest decision is to be made: what sandwich to order. When we asked the owner, Michael Ezekiel, what sandwich he recommended, his response made the decision even more challenging. “We worked on our menu for five years. It would be impossible for me to recommend a sandwich because they’re all that good. I’m not just saying that,” said Ezekiel.
We ended up settling on The Italian and The Turkey. Both sandwiches were packed with fresh-tasting flavor, and their passion fruit tea was the perfect palate-cleanser.
Not only was the food fantastic, but the staff were very friendly and promptly prepared our sandwiches.
Spreads Sandwich Shop is an excellent choice for anyone in NoMad looking for a quick, wallet-friendly, and delicious bite to eat. Swing by Spreads, open weekdays between 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., to try out some of their tasty lunch options. For information, visit the Spreads website.
