Igloo Mania? Check Out these Pop-Up Winter Rooftop Bars in NoMad

Here in NYC, along with holiday lights, shopping, concerts, ice skating, and overall holiday cheer, “tis the season” also means the arrival of winter-themed pop-up rooftop bars. This year in NoMad, several locations have jumped on the rooftop bandwagon, so to speak—with at least two spots featuring enclosed rooftop “igloos” as part of their holiday festivities. For a great evening of wintertime cheer with a view, be sure to check out the following winter rooftop pop-ups in NoMad.

Arlo NoMad

This year, both the Arlo NoMad hotel has set up “Arlo Arctica,” tipping its hat to Sir Ernest Shackleton, the explorer who led the Antarctica expedition just over a century ago. The Arlo NoMad has placed two “igloos” on its 31st-floor rooftop bar, “The Heights.” These transparent, heated huts made to look like igloos—and they’ve decorated both indoor and outdoor spaces with ice sculptures, artifacts, and reminders of Shackleton’s famous journey. The Heights is even featuring Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch Whisky on its seasonal cocktail menus in honor of the crates of whisky the expedition took with them to keep warm. Private bottle service is available in the igloos by reservation for $300 for the first two hours. Before you leave, be sure to check out the display of artifacts on the second floor. The igloos are open now through March 2019.
