Experience a Unique Winter Solstice Procession in Madison Square Park

On Friday, December 21st, 2018 at 5:00 p.m., you are invited to Madison Square Park for a one-of-a-kind Winter Solstice celebration with a special musical art piece performed by NYC-based composer Will Epstein, in collaboration with percussionist Kenny Wollesen and his group.

Designed as a celebration of the park’s current art installation, “Full Steam Ahead” by Arlene Shechet, this procession/performance will feature performers interacting with one another musically from varying distances in the park, blending with the natural sounds of the environment while weaving through the art installation. “Undulating in and out of proximity with each other,” says the Madison Square Park website, “the musicians become part of the park while simultaneously transforming the landscape into something out of the ordinary.”

The performance of the Winter Solstice Procession will begin in the park promptly at 5 p.m. and last approximately 23 minutes. Come and enjoy a unique and inspiring experience as we welcome the winter season as civilizations have done for millennia.
