Weekend in NoMad: Topsy Turvy, Live Jazz
NoMad has become a hub for culture in NYC. This weekend, the neighborhood will host the launch of a new public art installation and will host countless live Jazz events.
The newest Madison Square Park art installation, Topsy-Turvy: A Camera Obscura Installation, is opening today. Yesterday, we took you behind the scenes to show you the construction of the 10×10 ft Camera Obscura device that will be open to the public until April 5th. We’re very excited to experience Topsy-Turvy ourselves!
As always, the NoMad District has arguably the best array of live Jazz options in NYC. This weekend, some superstars will be in the neighborhood. Ravi Coltrane will be performing all weekend at Jazz Standard. He’ll even be joined by some living legends including bassist Christian McBride.
The Jazz Gallery, which recently gave us a behind the scenes look at their new space, is hosting the Will Vinson Group on Friday night and Luis Perdomo Quartet on Saturday. If you haven’t checked out their beautiful space, this weekend is a great opportunity.
Finally, The Flatiron Room will host The Smoke Rings on Friday night and Matthew Briere on Saturday night. This newer establishment has fantastic cocktails and a great intimate environment for a night with good friends or a first date.
Have a great weekend!
