If you’re looking for a delicious Italian “Sunday Dinner,” look no further, because one of the best restaurants in NYC (which just happens to be in our neighborhood) has kicked off a 4-course prixe fixe, family style meal. Last Sunday, Mamma Guidara’s (named for owner Will Guidara’s mother), kicked off at the NoMad Bar and has already captured the imagination of New Yorkers.
With Mamma Guidara’s, The NoMad team of Will Guidara, Chef Daniel Humm and GM Jeff Tascarella sought to recreate the classic Italian restaurant family-style restaurant experience.
Every Sunday evening, the chic NoMad Bar space will be transformed into an Italian bistro, with red-checkered table clothes and wax candles dripping from straw-covered chianti bottles. While there’s no written menu, you can rest assured that the Chicken Parmesan for two will be available as well as a rotating assortment of Italian classics. Diners will also be able to choose from a selected five-wine list, curated by by wine director Thomas Pastuszak.
This is an interesting concept from the team behind The NoMad and 11 Madison Park (the #3 ranked restaurant in the world) and has already created a massive amount of buzz in various publications such as Bloomberg and Eater. Unfortunately, due to the high demand, all tastings through the end of 2016 are sold out. However, you can add your name to the waiting list here.
Let’s hope The NoMad continues with Mamma Guidara’s Sunday Dinner in 2017, because we can guess mouths all over NYC are salivating at the the chance to try it.
