Chefs Duel for NoMad Tastebuds at Marta
Marta, the Danny Meyer restaurant inspired by the traditional Roman pizzeria, is always a fantastic dining option for NoMadders looking for a unique meal made from local ingredients of the highest quality. Located in the remarkable new Redbury, Marta has launched a monthly series that is bringing together some of the best pizza chefs in and around New York City for a culinary “duel.”
The series, Dueling Pizzas, features a rotating program of guest chefs serving customers an omakase-style tasting menu (with selections chosen by the chef) at the pizza counter. Each specialty menu will include an aperitivo, multiple pizzas, dessert and off-menu small bites.
The full lineup for the Dueling Pizzas series includes:
Dan Richer, Razza — May 8th
Frank Pinello, Best Pizza — June 5th
Greg Baxtrom, Olmsted — July 10th
Mark Iacono, Lucali — August 14th
Marco Canora, Hearth — September 12th
Whether for a special series like Dueling Pizzas or to enjoy the regular menu, the open kitchen layout of Marta provides a relaxed and beautiful atmosphere. The restaurant also offers delicious Roman meat, vegetable and fish dishes along with its pizza offerings. If you haven’t made it to Marta, you are missing out on food that will transport you from NoMad to Trastevere.
Dueling Pizzas is another great idea from Danny Meyer and not surprisingly the series is already sold-out throughout the summer. But don’t miss out on the fun; you can still make a reservation for a la carte dining that includes items from the special tasting menus.
