Construction Started on Buckyball in Madison Square Park

Leo Villareal's Buckyball in Madison Square Park follows Jamie Plensa's Echo

Leo Villareal’s new piece Buckyball is under construction in Madison Square Park in the NoMad District. As you probably know by now, the NoMad District has become one of the hotspots for public art in New York. Villareal’s piece continues the tradition of great art in the park that Jamie Plensa’s Echo and Charles Long’s Pet Sounds exemplified.

Villareal’s new sculpture will be massive in size (it will even rival Jamie Plensa’s Echo). It will stand 3 stories tall and feature enough LED light tubes that would even make Dan Flavin blush. We are so excited for the this piece to be completed so we can all enjoy it in the upcoming months!
