Chef Jonathan Benno’s Star Rises at The Evelyn Hotel
There is major news this month for the NoMad culinary scene.
Our readers won’t be surprised to hear of a new restaurant opening in one of NoMad’s many elegant hotels. Yet, as reported by Eater, this time a total of three new restaurants are set to open within the recently renovated Evelyn Hotel.
All three eateries will be launched by Chef Jonathan Benno, formerly of Lincoln, Per Se, Craft and The French Laundry. Despite his impressive associations with some of the city’s most prestigious restaurants, The Observer has called him a “criminally under-appreciated chef.” With his new openings at The Evelyn, Chef Benno joins the galaxy of culinary stars in NoMad, including April Bloomfield, David Humm, Will Guidera, John Doherty, and Mario Batali. In NoMad, he is not likely to remain “under-appreciated” for long.
The first of the three restaurants will focus on fine Italian dining and will be named, appropriately, Benno. While construction has begun for Benno, there have been mixed reports as to an opening date, with Jonathan Benno’s spokesperson suggesting early 2018.
In addition to Benno and its refined classic Italian dishes, Chef Benno will also open a casual restaurant and a fast-casual restaurant in adjoining spaces In other words, The Evelyn and its new culinary star partner will have the perfect dining option for you, no matter your mood.
