Big Apple Barbecue Block Party Returns to NoMad
For the 14th straight year, the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, the nation’s largest culinary and music festival dedicated to the best in barbecue, will return to NoMad on June 11th and 12th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
Founded by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group in 2002, what started as a single-street event on 27th Street has blossomed into a celebration of the USA’s grilling culture that stretches across numerous blocks in and around Madison Square Park.
The block party is open to all with free live performances, children’s programming, sampling, product demonstrations and more. For those into serious eating, there are $10 plates of barbecue from some of the absolute best chefs and pitmasters in the country.
Music is an integral part of the Big Apple Barbecue. Live performances are free and continuous on Saturday & Sunday on the main stage in Madison Square Park, adjacent to the Beer & Wine Garden and just across from Shake Shack. The schedule includes the following, but you can find more information here.

Not only is the event an affordable way to sample some delicious food, but it’s also a fundraiser benefitting the Madison Square Park Conservancy so it can keep the Park clean, green, and full of great activities all year long. Since its start, the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party has raised over $1.3 million dollars for the Park.
