Benno in NoMad Makes List of Most Beautiful New Restaurants in America
It has barely been open for two months, but chef Jonathan Benno’s flagship namesake restaurant is already gathering accolades. Among the most recent: Being named to the Robb Report’s list of Most Beautiful New Restaurants in America in 2018.
“Tucked in the back of the [Evelyn] hotel’s first floor is a grand art deco-inspired space created by Parts and Labor Design,” the Robb Report article states. “The lush curvilinear booths are upholstered in velvet and the fixtures are trimmed out in brass to create a room that feels elevated enough to complement the food, but stays away from being stuffy.”
Benno marks the third in a trio of dining concepts that Chef Benno opened last year in the newly-renovated Evelyn Hotel in NoMad. The casual trattoria Leonelli Taberna opened in June, and the market/bakery concept Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria quickly followed.
Now the flagship of the three concepts, Benno, is serving inspired, Mediterranean-influenced dishes in a fine-dining atmosphere. The superb food of the chef, formerly of Per Se and Lincoln is complimented by sleek, clubby surroundings that radiate a contemporary, urban sophistication.
New York Times food critic Pete Wells recently awarded the restaurant three stars, saying Benno’s French- and Italian-leaning dishes are “delicious.”
Robb Report is a renowned lifestyle journal that features high-end items, experiences, and other aspects of luxury living. Congratulations to Benno for already doing NoMad proud.
