Weekend in NoMad: Hugh Masekela and Larry Willis, Chez Deep

chez deep will perform common visions at ace hotel

There are so many interesting cultural events going on in the NoMad neighborhood this weekend. As usual, we like to highlight a couple that we think will be fun to attend.

Ace Hotel will have a special event to kick of Pride Weekend tonight. Performance art collective Chez Deep will perform “Common Visions.” NYC-based Chez Deep features members Sam Banks, Hari Nef, Alexis Penney, Colin Self and Bailey Stiles. This “ritual drag transformation” will also feature special appearances by Domonique Echeverria, Linda Simpson and Mss Vee. This event is at 7pm in the Lobby Bar and you can RSVP at the Ace Hotel website.

Hugh Masekela and Larry Willis will be performing all weekend at Jazz Standard. Hugh Masekela has been a staple of South African jazz since 1968. That was the year when “Grazing In The Grass” became an international pop hit. Masekela also toured with Paul Simon during his “Graceland” era. This should be fantastic!

Have a great weekend!
