Weekend In NoMad: Best Brunches in NoMad
Warmer weather has arrived, and New Yorkers are emerging from their winter hibernation. There is no better way to start a gorgeous weekend day than with a delicious brunch. NoMad is packed with amazing bars, cafes and restaurants, offering brunch in a spectrum of styles. For this weekend, we’ve highlighted three exceptional, and exceptionally different, brunch menus from Sarabeth’s, Tavern 29 and ilili.
This is not the first time that we’ve extolled the virtues of Sarabeth’s brunch, but it’s so good, it deserves to be written up again. The brunch menu offers an extensive array of taste options, including several variations of steel cut oatmeal; “sweet breakfast” items, such as the toasted coconut waffle with mango and vanilla rum butter; and savory options, such as the crab cake sandwich, short rib hash with tomatillo salsa, or jalapeno cheddar omelette. No matter what flavor experience you’re in the mood for, Sarabeth’s is sure to deliver.
Brunch is served from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sarabeth’s is located at 381 Park Avenue South.
Bottomless brunch is no longer exclusively limited to Mimosas and Bloody Marys. You can still get those classic drinks, or you can order an unending supply of Tavern 29’s Tavern Lager — a sessional beer, made for long-term drinking. Sip as much as you like on the drink of your choice as you dine on the “hangover burger” topped with caramelized onions, cheddar, a fried egg and bacon, french toast stuffed with mascarpone and blueberries, omelettes, and more.
Out of consideration for Tavern 29’s customers and neighbors, there is a two-hour time limit on alcohol during the bottomless brunch. Brunch lasts from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tavern 29 is located at 47 East 29th Street.
ilili’s Lebanese brunch menu is perfect when you’re looking for a spicy, savory way to start off your day in a beautiful environment. Try the Zaatar Eggs Benedict — poached eggs on a house-made bun, with roasted tomato and zaatar hollandaise sauce. Or for something a little more off the beaten path, enjoy the chicken livers with pomegranate molasses.
Chef Philippe Massoud designed the brunch menu, with its diverse Mediterranean flavors, specifically to make ilili a unique brunch destination in the city.
Brunch is served from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. ilili is located at 236 Fifth Avenue.
