NoMad is Home to the Most Expensive NYC Apartment on the Market

Between a brilliant food scene, a dynamic design/technology community, and numerous new developments, it comes as little surprise that property values are on the rise in NoMad. But the neighborhood hit a new milestone last month when the penthouse at 172 Madison listed for a staggering $98 million, making it the most expensive apartment currently for sale in New York City.

Occupying the top five floors of a lavish 33-story tower designed by architect Karl Fischer, “Le Penthouse,” as it’s called, reportedly boasts 11 bedrooms, 14 baths, 21-foot ceilings, a private rooftop saltwater lap pool, a jacuzzi with seating for up to 10 people, and terraces on every floor totaling 4,500 square feet of combined outdoor space. The apartment is being sold as a “white box,” which will add several millions to the finished price of the penthouse, but allow owners to customize it to their tastes and lifestyle.  “Nearly anything that money can buy and the mind can imagine is possible,” says the official listing.

Why the astronomical price tag? Apart from the many luxuries listed above, listing broker Raphael Sitruk of Keller Williams tells the New York Post, the property value derives from its central location and convenience to several popular neighborhoods. 172 Madison is marketing Le Penthouse as a NoMad Property that also provides walkable access to Murray Hill, and Koreatown, among others. “You have everything around you,” says Sitruk. “It’s a great location. I live in the building with my family and we love the location.”
