NoMad Heroes: Feeding the Frontlines with Tarallucci e Vino, Sweetgreen and &pizza

New Yorkers continue to show their true community spirit, supporting those in the medical profession who are fighting COVID-19. NoMad is proud to have establishments who are actively saying thank you to healthcare workers on the frontlines by making sure they are fed and are reminded that they are appreciated.

Tarallucci e Vino: Feed the Frontlines Foods NYC

A few days after New York City restaurants were closed except for take-out and delivery, Luca Di Pietro, the founder of Tarallucci e Vino began what is now Feed the Frontlines NYC. The idea originated when his wife’s friend, Adair Roberts, wanted to help the restaurant stay in business, as well as do something for the New York City healthcare workers, who are working tirelessly to limit the harm coronavirus is causing in our city. She ordered forty dinners, which Tarallucci e Vino delivered to NYU Langone’s ER staff. This generous act inspired Di Pietro to get more bighearted contributors like Roberts to buy meals from New York City restaurants to be delivered to those working the frontlines. The effort has expanded and now Feed the Frontlines NYC serves forty-one hospitals across the city.

But Di Pietro didn’t stop at that. With reports on the growing number of New York City’s food-insecure population, Feed the Frontlines NYC is also helping restaurants to reopen by partnering with another non-profit, JoyJ Initiative committed to helping New Yorkers in need of food.

Sweetgreen: Sweetgreen Impact Outpost Fund

Since mid-March, Sweetgreen has been showing their gratitude and support to hospital workers and medical personnel by delivering free, fresh salads and bowls to hospitals in New York City, as well as other cities across the U.S. Not only do these efforts directly help frontline workers, they help to keep restaurant workers employed and allow Sweetgreen to continue working with suppliers and farmers across the country.

&pizza: Hero Pie Program

&pizza in partnership with Citi is saying thank you to doctors, nurses, cleaning staff, administrators, and everyone working the frontlines with its Hero Pie Program. It provides free pizzas to local hospital heroes.

You can be a Nomad Hero, too

Everyday, there are so many New Yorkers giving it their all to help others in the COVID-19 crisis. Thankfully, restaurants like Tarallucci e Vino, Sweetgreen, and &pizza make it easy for you to give and show your support, too.  Please consider a donation at one of the links above.  Help the doctors, nurses, and aides working in our hospitals and support the restaurants and their workers whom you have relied on so often for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
