Haldi Brings ‘Calcutta Jewish’ Food To East NoMad

Head over to Haldi Indian, for a fresh take on Jewish-influenced Indian cuisine.

Indian restaurant Haldi recently opened in the NoMad District. Haldi, located at 102 Lexington Avenue, in the former Bhojan space, specializes in a unique blend of traditional entrees from Calcutta and traditional Jewish recipes.

The self-described ‘Calcutta Jewish’ menu features items such as Chicken Achari Tikka (pickled chicken) and minced chicken balls in almond cashew and raisin gravy. The menu also offers Indo-Chinese options like hot and sour soup and chili paneer.

The restaurant’s unique menu is echoed in its dining room atmosphere, which includes colorful accents, including a ceiling lined with upside-down copper bowls, bright yellow metal chairs, an authentic clay oven, and a bare-bulb sign spelling the restaurant’s name.

The restaurant also offers online ordering and free delivery with a $20 minimum. For information, call (212) 213-9615.
