Weekend in NoMad: Warm Up With Coffee

Birch Coffee tops our list of the NoMad Coffee Shop Round-Up

It’s another great weekend in NoMad! Warm up from the cold at one of our fantastic coffee shops.

Our friends at Birch Coffee have moved out of their spot in the Gershwin Hotel and into a new space 100ft down the block. The new location will have the same relaxed atmosphere, but with 40ft worth of frontage on 27th Street and enough room for an additional espresso machine to help with their growing fan base. Birch takes pride in providing the best coffee possible, using beans from farms around the world that are roasted locally with their close oversight. All of Birch’s food and produce comes from local farms and growers who use environmentally friendly and safe practices.

Or if you’re looking for European-style coffee, head over to 28th and Park Avenue South or 23rd and Park Avenue South where FIKA has set up shops. FIKA prides themselves in brewing coffee according to their Swedish heritage: coffee isn’t just a drink, it’s an excuse to relax and enjoy time with friends. Accompanied by a menu of chocolates, pastries and fresh produce, FIKA is the perfect spot for a Saturday coffee hang.

Other coffee favorites near Madison Square Park include Brooklyn-based roaster Toby’s Estate who opened a location late last year just south of Madison Square Park. Toby’s Estate sources their espresso beans from farmers and co-ops worldwide. They also serve up an assortment of sandwiches and baked goods. Head over to 5th Avenue and 20th Street to check them out.

And of course, Mudtruck is always a great option for the coffee-drinker on the go. Mudtruck parks near the intersection of 22nd Street and 5th Avenue just south of NoMad and offers classic thick New York coffee at low prices.

Have a great weekend!
