Weekend in NoMad: Lenny White, Domino Kirke

Lenny White will play two sets tonight at the Jazz Standard in the NoMad District of New York City

Another great weekend in NoMad is upon us! Take a break from your holiday preparations to relax with some great music.

The weekend kicks off with Lenny White & Friends at the Jazz Standard. As jazz fans, we’re beyond excited about this show. It features a trio of jazz legends: Lenny White on drums, Ron Carter on bass, and Patrice Rushen on keyboards.

Lenny White is best known as a member of jazz-fusion innovators Return To Forever and for his drumming on Miles Davis’s Bitches Brew. White has received many accolades in recent years, including his second Grammy Award for his production work with The Stanley Clarke Band. In addition to the core trio, audiences can expect some surprise guests to sit in. White will play two sets, the first at 7:30 p.m. and the second starting at 9:30 p.m. Both shows cost $30. Tickets can be purchased on the Jazz Standard website.

Finish out the weekend at the Ace Hotel where singer-songwriter Domino Kirke will take the stage. Domino Kirke was taught to sing by her father, Simon Kirke, who drummed for legendary groups Free and Bad Company. Since being discovered at the age of 17, Domino has made a name for herself recording with producer Mark Ronson and touring with the likes of Gang of Four and Lilly Allen. Ace-hotel friend, Chris Tucci will DJ before and after the event. The show is free and will be held in Ace’s lobby bar. Stop by at 8pm on Sunday to check it all out!

Have a great weekend!
