Weekend in NoMad: End of Summer

gansevoort park valentines day deal

Take advantage of the great weather this weekend while it lasts. What is the best place to spend a summer night? As The Drifters said “Up on the Roof.”

Grab a beer and a bite at La Birreria.  Eataly’s rooftop establishment has been raved about by the NY Times. Choose from a great beer selection and enjoy food inspired by Austrian/German family style dinners.  Great crowd and great views.

Afterwards, head over to the Gansevoort Park rooftop bar for some fantastic cocktails. They always have a fun crowd around the sparkling pool with the city as a backdrop.

230 Fifth is probably NYC’s most popular rooftop club.  With a tropical vibe in their “rooftop garden,” end the summer right with the breeze running through your hair and staring at one of the best views of the Empire State Building anywhere.  You’ll feel like you can reach out and touch it.

Rooftop bars are an old tradition in Nomad, dating back to the Gilded Age, when to avoid the heat of summer people went up to the cooler, cleaner air on the roofs.  Madison Square Garden and most hotels in the area, such as Hoffman House, had bars, restaurants and even shows on their rooftops.

Have a great weekend!
