Weekend in NoMad: Alexander West Pop-Up Shop, Jazz All-Stars

SF Jazz Collective performs at Jazz Standard

There are some incredible things happening in NoMad this weekend. Aside from the usual (and always incredible) DJs, bars and world-renowned restaurants; there are some very special events happening in the neighborhood.

Jazz Standard will be hosting the SF Jazz Collective in a tribute to Chick Corea. The SF Jazz Collective features many of the living legends of Jazz. They are also a very multi-cultural lineup, featuring musicians hailing from Latin America to the Middle East to “Down Under.” This lineup will be performing eight sets over the course of this weekend and is listed below:

Avishai Cohen – trumpet
Miguel Zenon – alto saxophone
David Sanchez – tenor saxophone
Robin Eubanks – trombone
Stefon Harris – vibes
Edward Simon – piano
Matt Penman – bass
Jeff Ballard – drums

Meanwhile, The Jazz Gallery has a couple fantastic shows as well. If you’re in the mood for trumpet stylings, Michael Rodriguez Quartet will perform two sets tonight. Tomorrow night will feature Chris Dingman Soundscapes. This is an unconventional lineup for a Jazz venue, as the trio contains vibraphone, guitar and cello.

Truman’s will be hosting an Alexander West pop-up shop. You can get a custom shirt and a shave at the same time!

There are so many fun events to chose from. Have a great weekend!
