Weekend in NoMad: Steve Wilson Quintet, Claudia Acuña
There are some great live music events going on in the NoMad neighborhood this weekend. As usual, fantastic Jazz performances are going down around Madison Square Park.
Steve Wilson Quintet will perform eight sets over the course of the weekend at Jazz Standard. In 2011, Steve Wilson had a historic six-night run at the NoMad neighborhood venue to celebrate his 50th birthday. Wilson is a saxophonist and flautist who has performed with legends like Dave Holland and Chick Corea. For tickets, head over to the Jazz Standard website.
Tonight (Friday), The Jazz Gallery will host jazz vocalist Claudia Acuña. The Chilean vocalist will be accompanied by guitarist Juancho Herrera and “special guests.” She will be playing two sets tonight. Claudia Acuña has performed with many prominent artists including George Benson and Avishai Cohen. The Jazz Gallery is a great addition to the NoMad neighborhood and also reached a fundraising goal this week!
