Shack Week: A Decade of Shake Shack
This week marks the 10th anniversary of iconic burger stand Shake Shack. Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack has become one of the fastest growing and acclaimed restaurant franchises in the world. From its humble beginnings as a single burger stand in Madison Square Park, Shake Shack now has locations as widespread as Istanbul, Dubai, Moscow and London.
To celebrate the brand’s wild success, Shake Shack is holding a week-long festival, featuring a different chef-designed burger each day, all available for only $8.50. $1 from each burger sold will also be donated to the Madison Square Park Conservancy and NYC Parks. The guest chefs participating in the event include, Daniel Boulud (DBGB, db Bistro, Cafe Boulud), David Chang (Momofuku), Andrew Zimmern (acclaimed chef and host of the Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods America), as well as NoMad’s own Daniel Humm (Eleven Madison Park) and April Bloomfield (The Breslin, John Dory Oyster Bar).
Shake Shack will host a birthday party in the park on Thursday, June 12th. The party will include live music from Catey Shaw, The Tall Pines, Cheerleader, Ski Lodge and Miniature Tigers. The event will also feature free ping pong, free slices of Dominique Ansel’s Shack-inspired birthday cake, and a “pay what you’d like” Shack-cago hotdog stand. If that weren’t enough, there will be a specially brewed Shack X IPA from Brooklyn Brewery served in a complimentary commemorative “Decade of Shack” cup.
Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti said of the celebration’s plans “We never dreamed ten years ago that our humble little kiosk would set the stage for where we are today… We’re honored to collaborate with this extraordinary group of innovative chefs who have changed the world of food, and we’re proud to call them our friends… We look forward to shaking up the burger scene for decades to come.”
The week plans to be the ultimate celebration of all things Shake Shack. Be sure to stay tuned to our on-going daily coverage of the celebration as we’ll have exclusive features right here at experiencenomad.com!
