Shack Week: Dominique Ansel’s Shake Shack Birthday Cake
Today features the biggest event in Shake Shack’s epic week-long 10th anniversary celebration in Madison Square Park: the birthday party.
Shake Shack has been celebrating 10 years in business with a new celebrity-chef designed burger for each day of the week. Not only is today’s burger created by three Michelin star awarded Eleven Madison Park owner Daniel Humm, but a birthday cake will be provided by Dominique Ansel.
Ansel, owner of Dominique Ansel Bakery, became an instant celebrity last year with the invention of the Cronut – a half donut, half croissant creation that resulted in an international media firestorm and hours of waiting in line just to sample the delicacy.
Dominique shared with us his excitement for the Shack-inspired cake:
“There’s an amazing culture and group of people behind Shake Shack and for 10 years they’ve done what we all try to do: make people really happy through food. I’ll be there singing Happy Birthday and lighting the candle for them. They deserve it!”
Slice of the cake will be given away free to the public (while supplies last). To accompany the cake, Brooklyn Brewery has come up with a one-time only Shack X IPA. The birthday party will also feature live music from an afternoon long-lineup of bands, free ping pong and a “pay what you like” Shack-ago hotdog stand.
