The Old Print Shop

The Old Print Shop has been buying, selling, and building American art collections since 1898. Its rich history and expertise offers a concentration in American printmakers and publishers from the 18th, 19th, and early-20th centuries.
The Old Print Shop’s first period of strong influence began during the 1940’s. Harry Shaw Newman recognized that 19th century American paintings were being overlooked by collectors and museums and brought them to the attention of the public. In the 1950’s, The Old Print Shop was instrumental in helping build several notable collections of American primitive art.
During the 1960’s, 1970’s, and 1980’s, there was a re-evaluation of American art from the past two centuries, at which time The Old Print Shop chose to concentrate on American printmakers and publishers from the 18th century through early-20th century. Today, many museums in America, Europe, and Asia collect and display fine prints from these time periods.
As The Old Print Shop moves well into its second century of business, it continues to look for art that has been overlooked and re-introduce it to patrons and collectors.
