Okayfuture at Ace Hotel
Tonight, Okayfuture will continue their Monday-night series at the Ace Hotel. The series features guest DJs from the Okayfuture family and runs through the end of January.
Okayfuture is a subsidiary of the music website Okayplayer. Founded by The Roots drummer ?uestlove, Okayplayer aims to introduce and support progressive urban music to an online community of music connoisseurs.
Okayfuture events support this goal by bringing audiences sounds from the crossroads of the new electronic music and hip-hop/soul aesthetics. Often featuring a mix of atmospheric synths, sampled vocals, and heavy bass, Okayfuture paves a new sonic landscape. It frequently features such cutting-edge artists as Diplo, Toro y Moi, Gold Panda, Flying Lotus and Jai Paul.
This week’s event features Lily Vanilli, resident DJ at the Hudson Hotel, and special guest Mother Brother. Lily Vanilli has worked as show DJ and opener for a variety of big names, including Erykah Badu, Danny Brown, Marz Lovejoy and Wu Tang Clan.
