NoMad Neighbors: Grant Gardner of Jazz Standard
Grant Gardner is the General Manager of Jazz Standard, one of the best known jazz clubs in the city. Every night, the Jazz Standard stage features world-famous musicians and rising stars in the music scene.
Grant sat down with us to talk about jazz, NoMad, and his favorite spots in the neighborhood.
How does the NoMad neighborhood influence business at Jazz Standard?
The neighborhood is an integral part of our business! There aren’t many jazz clubs nearby with the caliber of acts, hospitality, and affordability we provide. I’ve gotten to know a lot of the great regulars over the last year. We get so many people popping in for the first time that live nearby or that are dining upstairs at Blue Smoke — hopefully our future regulars! There is definitely a neighborhood element — convenient set times to catch a show after work and a great date spot — especially for Mingus Mondays residency!
Where do you go to decompress after work?
On my days off, walking my dog around the city is a great way to relax. I also like visiting my friends in the industry at their various spots to see what they’re doing.
What’s your go-to morning coffee?

What’s been your favorite installation in Madison Square Park?
