NoMad Construction Update: April 2013
There has been quite a bit of construction going on in the NoMad neighborhood recently. We thought we would round up a few of the projects going on in the Madison Square Park area.
242 Fifth Avenue
The 150-year old building located at 242 Fifth Avenue is getting developed. The plan is for the building to contain four apartment units and a storefront. This is a historic building that received a “Queen Anne” style makeover in the 1880s. On April 23, there is a hearing at the Landmarks Preservation Commission that will decide whether or not the plans can go forward.
10 Madison Square West
The former International Toy Center building is being developed. A six story addition is under construction with plans to house one to five bedroom condos. The building, located at 1107 Broadway, is being called 10 Madison Square West. Alan Wazenberg is handling the condo design. You might recognize his work from 150 Charles Street and the Brodsky buildings.
Pergola
A new business named Pergola will be opening at 36 West 28th Street in NoMad. There is an application for a liquor license out front so it seems likely that this will be a bar or restaurant.
