Nightclub Squares Wins Design Acclaim from Metropolis Magazine
As Experience NoMad reported a few weeks ago, the new nightclub Squares is open in the neighborhood and has attracted early celebrity fans.
Metropolis, one of the most highly regarded design magazines in the world, recently turned its gaze on Squares. Along with showing off the unique interior design of the nightclub in a gallery of beautiful photos, Metropolis revealed some fascinating details about the design.
The studio behind the design of Squares, Reunion Goods & Services, searched through pictures of historic social clubs for inspiration to craft the new club. Taking elements of classic social clubs — accoutrements like mounted game, desk globes and trophies — Reunion transformed these into mosaic designs. The walls and bar top of the club glitter with these designs. In fact, a total of 25,000 tiles were used to create an evocative, golden, pixelated interior world.
Of the project and its NoMad home, Reunion Goods & Services lead designer Eric Adolfsen told Metropolis, “We wanted to create a place that was both fun and full of energy but also made sense in such a historic and grand New York neighborhood.”
The next time you are planning a big night out, head to Squares and enjoy the wonderful design for yourself.
