Marimekko’s Holiday Party, New York Light & 23 Days of Flatiron Cheer
The Holiday season is officially upon us and NoMad has a number of festive events to help build the Holiday cheer.
Finnish design shop Marimekko kicks off the weekend with their annual Holiday party. Held this Saturday from noon until 3 p.m., the event welcomes guests to browse through the store while enjoying sweet treats, warm hot chocolate and chatting with the store’s friendly staff. Marimekko will be giving away limited edition Marimekko navy logo tote bags with any purchase of $150 or more.
The Flatiron District is celebrating the season with 23 Days of Flatiron Cheer. Earlier this year the Flatiron / 23rd Street Partnership announced that it was teaming up with the Van Alen Institute to host a Holiday installation design competition. Design group INABA won the competition with their proposal for New York Light – a structure of “mirror-polished components that reflect the city in a dazzling kaleidoscope of light and color.” New York Light is now up and viewable to the public. Tweet or Instagram your photos of the structure in Madison Square Plaza with #NewYorkLight for a chance to win amazing prizes from local businesses. The prizes, which include dining gift certificates, fitness memberships, hotel stays and classes, will be given away daily.
Don’t forget to head over to Madison Square Park this Tuesday for the annual Holiday tree lighting. The event features workshops and a number of free treats. The fun kicks off at 3:30 p.m. and finishes with the lighting ceremony at 5 p.m.
