Luke’s Lobster Halibut – Get It While It’s Fresh

It’s that time of year when Luke’s Lobster offers its limited-time fresh catch of halibut, which can be shipped now. This delicious fish is from the Gulf of Maine and caught by community fishermen. Luke’s is always transparent about its sourcing and sustainable practices. This week’s catch is caught by Danny Miller from Tenants Harbor Fisherman’s Co-op. The halibut is brought directly to Luke’s in Saco, Maine, then shipped to you fresh.

The brief season for halibut begins May 18 and ends June 13. It’s sustainably managed with a seasonal quota system, allowing fishermen to catch and tag 25 halibut per season. Minimum size requirements prevent juvenile fish from being caught.

Halibut is a mild, sweet white fish that is meaty and firm. Cut into 2-pound steaks, it’s perfect for grilling, baking or poaching. You can order fresh halibut steaks from Luke’s Lobster here.
