Looking for Weekend Brunch in NoMad? Try These 4 Spots This Month

Weekend brunch is something of a New York City tradition, with hundreds of establishments across the city competing to add their own culinary twist to what just might be the most relaxing meal of the week. If you’re in NoMad looking for a place to enjoy a Bloody Mary, an omelet with fruit salad and the company of friends on a weekend, here are four popular neighborhood brunch spots you should try this July.

1. Blackbarn

Brunch in a barn in NYC? Yes, in a manner of speaking. This farm-to-table restaurant has perfected the art of upscale dining in a rustic atmosphere, offering a wide brunch menu that includes traditional items (e.g., omelets and frittatas) alongside surprises like curried cauliflower “steak” (not really a steak—just try it). A pre fixe menu is available with your choice of beverage and a fruit/pastry buffet, or enjoy live blues and bottomless Bloody Marys at Blackbarn’s Boozy Blues Brunch.

2. La Pecora Bianca

Enjoy brunch Italian-style at this upscale-casual establishment at the corner of Broadway and 26th. Featuring local organic pastas and locally sourced meat and produce, La Pecora Bianca puts its own old-world spin on brunch with a selection of frittatas, soft-scrambled egg dishes, Toscano salad, salmon toast and much more.

3. Maysville

If you like Southern food and whiskey, this is the brunch spot for you. Choose from a lengthy list of whiskeys and bourbons (or wine, if you prefer) and pair it with southern-inspired dishes like the Maysville Benedict, city ham with ramp hushpuppies, roasted oysters or the traditional chef’s breakfast. Be sure to save room for fried apple pie with cinnamon sugar or a dish of vanilla ice cream with bourbon caramel topping.

4. The NoMad New York

Of course this spot tops our list—in a literal way, it defines “brunch in NoMad.” The fine dining restaurant associated with The NoMad Hotel New York is brought to you by Chef Daniel Humm and Restaurateur Will Guidara, the team behind the 3-star Michelin-rated Eleven Madison Park. Needless to say, this place outdoes itself for brunch with its own elegant versions of traditional and new favorites. Order some Oysters Beausoleil with mignonette snow for the table, and follow it up with salmon eggs benedict, carbonara or a cobb salad and the cocktail or wine of your choice. Take your time—it’s the weekend, and you’re in one of the finest establishments in NYC.
