Jon Batiste Takes Up Residency in NoMad Hotel on His Way to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Jon Batiste residency at Nomad Hotel

28-year-old jazz pianist Jon Batiste will become Stephen Colbert’s bandleader when The Late Show With Stephen Colbert premieres in September. But until then, he’s hanging out in NoMad. Batiste will have a week-long residency at The NoMad Hotel, from June 23rd until the 29th.

Coming off nearly a year of touring, Batiste is testing out a new idea: cultivating “social music” experiences through extended residencies. The NoMad Hotel is the first stop. Over the course of the week, Batiste hopes to cultivate a sense of community and togetherness through music, that couldn’t be achieved with a standard one or two-night tour stop.

Each day of the residency will take place in one of the hotel’s many spaces, including the Library Bar, the Johnston Room and the Rooftop. Each venue will offer a different experience, from storytelling with the kids to a swinging, boozy brunch.
