Jazz Gallery Opening Up: Darius Jones, Pedro Giraudo

darius jones will perform the opening night of the new jazz gallery space

The newest cultural institution within NoMad NY, The Jazz Gallery, is set to open up tomorrow and has some great shows planned over the next few days! The venue recently relocated to NoMad following a 17 year run near Hudson Square.

The Jazz Gallery lined up a couple hot names in Jazz set to play their opening shows. Tomorrow (Thursday) night, Darius Jones will play the first performance at the new Jazz Gallery space. His quartet will perform from his latest release, Book of Mae’bul (Another Kind of Sunrise). Jones has been praised from various publications including The New York Times and JazzTimes. About to the opening night performance, Darius Jones had this to say:

Thurs. Jan. 17th is the opening of the new Jazz Gallery. It is their first performance in the new space. It is also my first performance there as a leader. The gallery has been supporting and doing amazing work for the jazz community for years. So come out and see the new space. More important support them through this transition. Also if you just want to come and hear Mæ’bul that is a good reason to show up too. Muah!”

Also performing this weekend will be the Pedro Giruado Jazz Orchestra. They will perform a two-night run. Argentine-born Pedro Giruado has received veneration for his band-leading abilities. He has been praised by many outlets including Latin Jazz Corner and Downbeat.

We are so excited for the opening of the new Jazz Gallery space. For more information, head over to the Jazz Gallery Facebook page.
