Explore Old New York With Rare Historical Footage
The Real Deal has released a beautifully edited video that pulls together some of the oldest extant footage of New York.
The video compiles footage that is over a century old, but you can still recognize famous locations all over Manhattan, such as Bryant Park, the Williamsburg Bridge, Times Square and, most excitingly for us, the Madison Square Park area.
Scenes of NoMad circa 1902 begin at 3:11, including the original Madison Square Garden and the famous Dewey Arch on Fifth Avenue and 24th Street, but the full video is well worth a watch. It’s fascinating to see how New York has changed over the last century, yet manages to maintain its tremendous energy.
