Chalait is Bringing Matcha to NoMad

chalait nyc is brining matcha to nomad

The matcha trend is coming to NoMad. New Yorkers were saddened to learn that popular West Village cafe Chalait is closing its doors at the end of July to make way for an expanded CVS. However, the West Village’s loss is NoMad’s gain as Michelle and Roman Puyane’s hotspot will open two locations later this summer within walking distance of Madison Square Park.

Chalait’s first new opening will be a NoMad location at 30th and Broadway in the heart of the neighborhood. Another location will follow, not too far away, in Chelsea Market.

For those who have not caught on to the matcha craze, the Japanese-style green tea has taken New York by storm in recent years. Matcha is a flavor you must try. And Chalait has been leading the way by sourcing its matcha from the hills of Uju, Japan’s oldest tea growing region and uses it in everything from lattes and iced teas to hot chocolates.

Other menu items include delicious sandwiches, tartines, and every coffee/tea drink you’d expect from a cafe.

Stay tuned for more information on Chalet’s exact opening date and follow the cafe on Twitter for real time updates!
