Following the preview of the NoMad cocktail at June’s “Friends of the NoMad Alliance” party, Black Barn has officially debuted the new drink at Celebrate Mad. Sq. Chefs 2017.

Lucky attendees at the event enjoyed the drink alongside Black Barn’s Honey-Butter Glazed Corn Muffins, Pork Rillette with Spicy Mangelitsa Copa and pickled carrots.

With the NoMad, The Black Barn bar team, overseen by Chef John Doherty, has given its unique spin to the White Manhattan. Mixing Black Barn’s own in-house oak-aged Moonshine with Italian White Vermouth and a touch of honey, the drinks special finish comes with a hint of fruit from the heated peel or an orange.

This new drink continues the legacy of numerous cocktails created in NoMad during the Gilded Age, such as the Manhattan, Rob Roy, Hoffman House Fizz, Delmonico’s No. 1 and Widow’s Kiss.  Considering the neighborhood’s rich alcoholic history, we are expecting the NoMad cocktail to be a big hit far beyond NoMad.

Thanks to Chef Doherty for giving our neighborhood the signature drink for today’s hard working, hard playing NoMad crowd.  The original NoMad cocktail is now being served exclusively at Black Barn so drop over and try one . . . or two . . . or three?

The cocktail will also be the featured drink at This is NoMad, the inaugural benefit for the NoMad Alliance — where Chef John and many of the neighborhood’s best chefs will be serving up culinary surprises. Don’t miss out; reserve your space today!
