Benno Officially Opens at the Evelyn Hotel

Jonathan Benno’s culinary aesthetic is well-known to New Yorkers from his years in the kitchens of Per Se and Lincoln Ristorante. Now, his three-concept project is playing a central role in the Evelyn Hotel’s recent reinvention. First, there was Leonelli Taberna, a trattoria that opened in June. Then there was Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria, an Italian-style pastry and focaccia concept which opened a few weeks later. And in November, chef Jonathan Benno completed his Evelyn Hotel trifecta with the opening of Benno, his flagship fine-dining restaurant drawing heavily on Mediterranean influences.

Set within a splendidly designed art-deco styled space, Benno features a 45-seat dining room, 10-seat bar, and 35-seat private room for special events. Chef Benno has filled the menu with inspiration from both northern Italy and southern France, with offerings such as olive oil poached sea trout, pappardelle ruvide, and a seafood brodetto for two with lobster, scallops, longfin squid, mussels, and other delights. The menu is designed in a prix-fixe format at three price points: three-courses at $95 per person, four courses at $125, or five courses at $145.

With the completion of Benno, hotel guests and local food enthusiasts alike have a variety of new high-quality culinary experiences to enjoy, from pastries and coffee in the morning to romantic dinners at night.
