America’s Parade Ran Through NoMad

americas parade started in madison square park today

The 2013 NYC Veterans Day Parade ran through the NoMad neighborhood today. The parade is now called America’s Parade, because it is the largest celebration in the country honoring Veterans.

As it has since the 1929, America’s Parade began in Madison Square Park. At the Park there was an opening ceremony at the Eternal Light Monument, including a wreath laying by Mayor Bloomberg. The parade featured marching bands from all branches of the military and made its way uptown to 52nd Street.
