2017 NYC Marathon: Chef Daniel Humm and Make It Nice Running Club Fight Childhood Hunger
Everyone is aware of the world-class work of local Chef Daniel Humm. With Will Guidara, he leads the “Best Restaurant in the World” — Eleven Madison Park, as well as The NoMad and Make It Nice, with its expanding list of culinary and creative projects. But readers may be surprised to learn that Daniel Humm is also a talented long-distance runner.
As reported by Food & Wine, Humm completed his third NYC marathon this past weekend with an incredible finishing time of three hours and 12 minutes! Just as impressive as his time is the fact that Humm registered the entire Make It Nice Running Club in the marathon, and the group collectively raised funds for No Kid Hungry, a charity devoted to ending childhood hunger.
The Made It Nice Running Club is a story in itself. Daniel Humm first organized the running club for his restaurant staff in 2015. The club meets for seven mile runs around Central Park each Monday morning, in an effort to introduce healthy living to a restaurant work culture that can often be anything but. Humm told AM New York,“The running club has connected members of our team who normally wouldn’t spend much time together.”
Congratulations again to our NoMad neighbor Daniel Humm. We can’t wait to cheer the entire Make It Nice Running Club at the next year’s marathon!
